Notes: I've been planning and working on this for a long time, since The Spike gave permission. Life intervened, but it's finally done. It's a canon-divergent AU, branching off part-way through Adrift. I'm posting it for the Romancing SGA festival, as while it's very much about John and Rodney's relationship, in this they're friends, and initially estranged. So it didn't fit Romancing McShep's parameters, but their relationship, as they stumble toward a reconciliation, is every bit as intense and life-altering as any romance. It's one of my favourite SGA stories. Cover art made in Procreate. Thanks to The Spike for writing this, and for being enthusiastic about it being podficced.

Summary:
While off world in Pegasus, Sheppard gets zapped by Ancient technology and is changed in an unexpected way. He has to struggle to cope while Rodney and his team work to try to change him back. Ronon, however, doesn't care what body John inhabits, as he loves all of John.
This story takes place post-Season 5, Atlantis is back in Pegasus and Stargate Universe didn't happen.

This festival includes works with dark or unhappy relationships, and McShep relationships with unhappy endings. Also, no Valentine's day theme is needed - any trope or theme is fine.
