SGA Saturday

That right, friends!  Amnesty is almost over - but it's cool, we were all too busy to get anything written, and I totally get that. The Winter holiday keeps us all busy and that's all cool.

But, if you're working on something that you consider amnesty, you can still log it as long as it's done before Sunday evening, January 4th.  Otherwise, it'll have to wait or be worked into another prompt.

With this prompt's closing, there will be another prompt coming up. But if you're still working on something for this set of prompts, not all hope is lost. That's the ticket!

In communing with nature and the season, with the cooler weather and everywhere you look ghosts and goblins are starting to pop up, we thought it would be an amazing time to bring forth appropriate prompts for the next few weeks.  So knowing that, welcome to "haunt" and/or "scare" for the next four weeks!

The great thing is, not only do these prompts fit with the season, but they also can slide in to any other challenge you might be doing this spooky Halloween season.  Maybe Jeannie Miller has some sort of haunting premonition about her brother Rodney who's stuck all the way in another galaxy?  Maybe there's another mission to walk into a bug cave and the thought of it scares John because he knows how those things think now.  

But you could totally take it another direction.  Maybe Elizabeth finds herself back on Earth, in a life so perfect that she's almost scared to ask what's going on (could it be alien influence? Who knows - you tell the story!).  Or maybe it's as simple as Evan Lorne showing Ronon around his old haunts in San Francisco.

Whatever the case may be - and whatever you decide to do to the characters - you've got until the first weekend in November to get it written down and posted.

Sometimes coming up with prompts is hard, yo!

Thinking about it, after watching a few episodes of SGA this past week, I started thinking about The Storm and how Sheppard, McKay, and Weir got along, outsmarting the Genii and taking back Atlantis.  So that's where half of this prompt is coming from.  It would be nice to see a little missing scene from The Storm, like maybe John taking care of Rodney's arm after The Storm has passed and Atlantis is under SGA's control again.  Or maybe Ronon and Amelia are having a little time away from Atlantis and get caught up in a storm, which brings them closer.  Or maybe it's something more grand - like a grand gesture that Lorne makes to show someone his affection.  Or maybe sneaking a shuttle off of Atlantis while it's in the San Francisco Bay and having a little joyride to the Grand Canyon.  Could it be Markham and Stackhouse that steals the 'jumper?  Could be - it could be a grand gesture of love - or maybe they use the 'jumper to get to a sex store's grand opening.

Yes, Markham and Stackhouse would totally steal a jumper to go find more sex toys.  Those boys, I swear.  

Where was I?  Oh yea, "grand" and/or "storm" are your prompts.  You've got four weeks!

Today's prompts are brought to you by the Quartiles puzzle I was just playing as well as what I'll be doing in a couple of hours.  For the next five weeks (because of how the weeks fall) you can choose to write a fic, do a podfic, create art, or something else fandomish around the prompts "horse" and/or "wine".  

Horse can be so. very. interesting.  I mean you've got your animal that someone can come riding in on to save the day (can you say John Sheppard in chaps?!?!  Or Rodney McKay in ASSLESS chaps?!?!), or Ronon's strength a la "strong as a horse."  Or, you could maybe go a little NC17 with hung like a....

Oh yes, horse and wine.  Those are your prompts for the next five days.  And, GO!

Oh yes, squidgiepdx is a bit melancholy today, and it's bled into these prompts!

For those of you that have been around the community a while, you'll know that we just passed clwilson2006's birthday recently - and that's always a somber day, at least for me. For those of you that didn't know Claire, she was the biggest cheerleader, but also enabler in all things Lorne/Parrish. She even got me to write them, and I've not been the same since.

So for this coming four week period, we're going to celebrate everything "spring" - from a spring in your step to the season that restarts life all around us - and make a nod to "loss". When you think about it, these two prompts are truly entwined; you cannot enjoy the fruits of Spring without acknowledging the loss of winter and the chilly nights that come with it.

You can interpret either of these prompts as you wish, with Rodney having a spring in his step to Radek having to requisition a new bed because his amorous activities caused a spring in his mattress to break. You can run away with loss - like how John felt when Rodney lost his memories to honoring those lost to the Wraith. However you choose to do it - write it down, spread some digital paint on the canvas, or even give us some meta about episodes like "Childhood's End" or "The Shrine." The options are limitless!

A little later than normal, but the result is the same. Weeks #479-482 are coming to a close, so if you've got a work related to "kiss" and/or "heart" then you should post it soon! Unless you need an extension, then just let me know.
