SGA Saturday

So now that we got some blood pumping with our last prompt, how about continguing it - the blood pumping part, at least - with two new prompts!  Sure, limit is a great prompt by itself.  Like when Rodney created his own higher math - his brain had no limit that he couldn't push through.  Or maybe it's hard times and they're rationing coffee on Atlantis, but John limits his caffeine intake and gives his shares to Rodney.  Or Elizabeth limits the amount of off-world trips the colony can take due to a contageous outbreak of something.  But medic?  See, that prompt brings us a little danger.  Like Lorne learning to be not only a leader in the field, but a medic as well, and he ends up saving Cadman's life.  Or John is waiting for Ronon to come back from a trip to Sateda and is down the stairs before he knows it because Ronon's on a stretcher being carried by a couple of medics.

Whatever you can think of, if it's got to do with either limits or medics, now's the time to fill that prompt and let your work shine!

Time to start out the new year with a bounty!  At least with bounty as a prompt, along with card.  There's quite a bit you can do with both of these.  Like an AU where Earth Sheppard could have a bounty on his head, and he escapes to Atlantis, or maybe the Atlantis colony comes across a bounty crop of food that may or may not be a trap.  They could be celebrating a bountiful harvest with the Athosians.  Or maybe card - well you can do quite a lot with that one.  You could have John as a bored liquor store clerk who insists on carding Rodney every single time he comes into the store.  Hey, it's a way to find a cute customer's name, eh?  Or maybe Lorne and Parrish have a little home somewhere, and they get a holiday card from someone they used to work with.  Or better yet, they get a card from someone, but it's got a tracking device in it, and David gets kidnapped so Evan has to go find him.  Or maybe it's just a friendly came of 5 card stud that someone purposefully keeps losing (and keeps trying to turn it into strip-poker).

The possibilities may be endless, but not the deadline!  You've got until the first Sunday in February to come up with an idea and write a fic or art or such for the community around bounty and/or card.

And....GO!

It's time for a new prompt, and perhaps these one will inspire the muse.  Your prompts for the next four weeks are "music" and/or "block".  Maybe Lorne is the unofficial Atlantis DJ when it comes to parties and whenever Sheppard and McKay get close to each other, he switches up the music for a solid block of slow dancing.  Or maybe Ronon got a taste of Earth music and walks around Atlantis humming something far too catchy.  Maybe Rodney ends up playing a piano that someone snuck across the galaxy to bring him, or maybe there's an attempted invasion and Atlantis has to block their gate from being overrun by invaders.  

Whatever the case, you've got four weeks to work with the prompts.  Good luck!

Hey, it had to be done.

This one could initially be interpreted by some as just a queer-coded challenge - and they are partially right. As a member of the queer community myself (and one who likes to make boys kiss in my fics) I used to feel like an outside, which is honestly what I think the people who traveled to Atlantis felt like. Outsiders. Those who didn't quite find a place on Earth and found their stride in Pegasus with everyone else. So yes, this challenge could totally be something pride flag related like Markham and Stackhouse coming back from San Francisco pride with new pride flag tattoos (jots notes own in my ideas folder). But it also could be the pride that Rodney sees in his niece when she decides to go into the sciences instead of English like her dad. Or the pride in celebrating people who live in Pegasus. Or, since week 445 encompasses the 4th of July here in the United States (well, everywhere else, too - but July 4th is a specific US holiday), it could be John raising the American flag outside his little home on an Iowa farm (jots down another note) or maybe a celebration where everyone on Atlantis rips off their Earth country's flags from their uniforms and each one dons a new Atlantis in Pegaus specific flag.

So over the next five weeks, your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to write something with either "pride" and/or "flag" in it. And, to all my fellow queer community and allies folks, happy pride.

Okay, if I can't write something about Markham and Stackhouse working up a sweat, I don't know what I'll do.

Greetings and welcome to another prompt for the SGA Saturday community!  For the next four weeks, we've got "work" and/or "sweat" to work with.  Maybe you want to capture what a regular work-week is like on Atlantis, with the scientists working their magic and the military training to keep them safe.  Or maybe the Sheppard and his team leave the icy cold of Atlantis, instantly breaking out in a sweat on a tropical planet.  Or maybe Lorne joins in when a bunch of Marines are helping the Athosians, and someone's mouth goes dry watching a bead of sweat drip down Lorne's tanned, firm chest.

Where was I?  Oh yeah.

So for the next four weeks, think about what might happen on Atlantis around "work" and/or "sweat" and get it written down.

It's beginning to look a lot like AMNESTY!

Every year at this time the community goes into Amnesty mode - which means you can write anything you want based on any of the prompts we've posted.  Got something for week #1's coffee prompt?  Write it!  How about week #35's dragon prompt?  Yep, write it!

And because of how the calendar flows in January, 2024, you actually have a full extra week of Amnesty to deal with.  So you've got until Saturday, January 6th to get your Amnesty fill.  Just remember when you're filling a prompt, please use both the "Amnesty 2023" tag as well as the tag for the week you're filling.

Here we go! Weeks #398-401 challenge with the prompts "money" and/or "store" is open for business!

One of the things that people on Atlantis don't have to deal with is money.  Sure, it's accumulating in their bank accounts back home on Earth, but they've really no need for it on Atlantis - so what do they do with it?  And when they rotate back to Earth, either permanently or on leave, what do they splurge on?  

The other thing not truly found on Atlantis is stores.  Sure, there's a commissary - but that's just for food.  There's no real store in the retail sense of the word on the planet.  There's plenty of planets with sooqs/outdoor markets, but it's not the same as, say walking into Best Buy or 7-11.  But of course store can also mean to stash something away.  Maybe Rodney shows up in John's quarters and John has to quickly store away the sex toy that he'd brought back from his last trip from Earth.  Or maybe the day DADT was repealed, Markham and Stackhouse rotated back to Earth to go to a pride parade, and then stumbled back through the Stargate in full rainbow paraphernalia (well, Markham.  Stackhouse was probably just wearing a rainbow thong, the imp!).

Whatever the case, you've got the next four weeks to come up with fills for money and/or store.  And....GO!
