Honorable mentions:

We'd also like to give a shout-out to [livejournal.com profile] lar_laughs for getting out and rocking the comments, and to [livejournal.com profile] squidgiepdx for starting an actual squee meme.

This was so damned fun we're going to have to do it again, you realize. :) And nothing says we can't keep reccing up a storm. Remember: we've changed weekly prompt rules so you can respond with a themed trio of recs!

Dearest Little Comm That Could:

[livejournal.com profile] lilyfarfalla and [livejournal.com profile] joandarck and I were sitting around drinking hot holiday drinks and discussing fannish things today after seeing the new Sherlock Holmes movie (omg the slashiest. so amazing.) and we decided continuing the fannish cheer was in order...as swell as [livejournal.com profile] sga_saturday is, we know more awesome stuff is going on in the greater SGA community that we're not hearing about, more cool comms, more terrific stories that aren't coming to our attention for whatever reason, more squee we don't get to participate in. How can we link people together?

I mentioned [livejournal.com profile] akamine_chan's awesome Snowflake Challenge, and Joan said it reminded her of the fine old tradition of [livejournal.com profile] china_shop's Fandom Appreciation Challenges, except in a self-appreciative way (which I can totally get behind.)

But Lily and I think we should try the Fandom Appreciation thing...it sounds like just the ticket. I don't have any details beyond what Joan described, but here's what we suggest: create a rec posting in your journal of 1-3 works, stories, happenings, squees, whatever: things of interest you want to share with us that you think we might have missed (they can also be works of your own you feel passed unnoticed.)

Comment right here with a link to your posting(s).

All this month, in addition to posting, we will go to each other's links, read and hopefully enjoy each other's recs, and if we do, we will comment, even if only with an "I enjoyed this!" Because here's the kicker: we get points for commenting on the stuff we like.

Commenting is important. Commenting turns this from a distant transaction to an interaction, from a spectator sport to a dialogue. Comments make writers and artists eager to create more, podficcers want to read until their throats get all rusty. :)

So please make yourself comment even if you are normally reticent! Report back to us on the number of comments you have made at the end of the month. The bonus: folks who participate the most in this challenge will be awarded VALUABLE PRIZES. As yet undetermined. But serious! :D

Okay. This is our first try at this, but let's give it a shot.

ETA: Folks, don't forget to track this entry!

ETA2: We now have our own banner!
