Summary: A slight smile curled the lip of Sheppard as he thought of McKay's reaction....
He always savored showering. As soon as they stepped out of the gate and the formalities were over, he would head to his quarters strip off his gear. . .his flight jacket, boots and BDUs, and head directly to the shower.
Showering meant getting rid of whatever he had picked up off world and sometimes it had even managed to get past the BDUs, something that made him grimace as he considered it now.
As he soaped down, he wondered idly if anyone realized he had acquired a tattoo? Hmmmmm. It brought a slight smile to his mouth when he thought of McKay, “That is so NOT in keeping with you status. I mean HELLO!! what were you thinking?” accompanied of course by a lot of histrionics.
His lip curled again in a slight smile in appreciation. The tat was relatively obscure, location wise. It was a spur of the moment, but he relished the thought of it each time he stripped down. It was unique. It was over the top and in keeping with his 'status'.
Sheppard had remembered when he was in flight training that there had been others who had them. Even though it was frowned on by those who stuck to the strict interpretation of what an officer does and does not do, it always peeked his interest to see them. One pilot had wings on his left shoulder; wings as in mythological type, not AF wings, as in pilot wears them over the left breast. He also remembered how unhappy the fight instructors were if they found out. It earned you an immediate summons to a private meeting where you were told how disappointed the AF was in your failure to recognize proper decorum. The interesting thing was it had never resulted in anyone being washed out.
Now he had one too.
As the water ran over his head and down over his shoulders Sheppard thought of how cold it had been off world. Even with his flight jacket it had chilled him to the bone.
Initially it was fine. They had stepped out of the gate into sunshine, but then fog began to roll in and the cold set in. It finally turned into WOXOF, which he guessed could be used to describe it, even though they were not in a flight status, but who cared? It was totally socked in in any case and cold to the bone.
Never mind that now as this was his relief from it all.
His enjoyment was interrupted by rapid and incessant pounding at the door with a lot of muffled shouting. No doubt McKay demanding to know why Sheppard was late for mess.

Your observations about McKay's reaction are what made Sheppard smile as he knows McKay only too well.............
