As I read this story it made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.....
It brought me back to my childhood when we were at Canon Beach in a house on west side of the road, ie water side. In the middle of the night mom woke us up and told us to get dressed NOW!!!!!!......as we rushed out to the car, a (((((wall))))) of fire was on the other side of the road. The brightness of it, the sound as it jumped from one evergreen to the other, its heat, and the smell all came back vividly reading BURN.

BUT all that aside, great story and so heroic of McKay. I didn't know he had it in him. Bless his heart
