There was definitely a disconnect, given how each side approached this meeting, which I think says a lot about ingrained social norms and how concerned [the general] we are about not offending someone, ie asking what we consider to be delicate, invasive topics - someone's family, say - which, flipside, is something Ronon holds in great value, and expects that worth to be honored right away with curiosity and interest.

Point being, you're right; it's worth it to mix up your scientific MO, sometimes. :) I'm so pleased that you enjoyed this, thank you for your lovely comments.
