Wow this is great information............so great you managed to get some about him and never mind the pix
I still remember when I found the family pix in his foot locker...nobody had ever seen it......
Your father was young, but that was so common even during WWII
Mom's brother began pestering his mother when he was 15. He wanted her to sign the papers when he was 16. She held out till he turned 17. Had we had to invade Japan he would have been killed as he was part of the amphibious forces.

I look at pix of dad when he was with the marines in Shanghai
(marines have no medical corps)
and have no knowledge of any part of it.......save for a short statement about how they could hear the rockets as they whizzed over the American settlement, intended for the Chinese...
He is wearing marine greens, not Navy.....and in some pix
it is obvious they are in areas that had been bombed by the Japanese who by that time had invaded Manchuria.
This was of course before we entered the war.
So many blank pages when it comes to him.
