Hello my peeps! Co-mod [livejournal.com profile] popkin16 and I have settled on "earth" for our New Year's prompt. You have 3 weeks to create us a splendiferous work related to:

    1. (often initial capital letter) the planet third in order from the sun, having an equatorial diameter of 7926 miles (12,755 km) and a polar diameter of 7900 miles (12,714 km), a mean distance from the sun of 92.9 million miles (149.6 million km), and a period of revolution of 365.26 days, and having one satellite.
    2. the inhabitants of this planet, especially the human inhabitants: The whole earth rejoiced.
    3. this planet as the habitation of humans, often in contrast to heaven and hell: to create a hell on earth.
    4. the surface of this planet: to fall to earth.
    5. the solid matter of this planet; dry land; ground.
    6. soil and dirt, as distinguished from rock and sand; the softer part of the land.
    7. the hole of a burrowing animal; lair.

As always, remember you can post to AO3 and use the SGA Saturday Prompt Challenge to tag your work, then link back here.

    Have fun!

All: I'm planning to back up the contents of [livejournal.com profile] sga_saturday to a community of the same name on Dreamwidth to preserve the contents of our community in the event that something should happen (*cough* censorship) due to the illegality of some of our works under the current laws of Russia (in June 2013, a federal law criminalizing the distribution of materials among minors in support of "non-traditional" sexual relationships, was enacted as an amendment to an existing child protection law). Seeing as the LJ servers have recently been moved there, this is a real concern.

Please let me know if you are a contributor to this community and have any concerns about having your content backed up to DW.

I'll give it a week before I proceed.

    Dear peeps!

Alas, no entries for monkey! And with this, The Little Comm That Could enters Eternal Amnesty. You are free to post any works or links to new works based on any of our previous prompts.

Thanks for years of excellent works and community support! <3

You could write about the team encountering a monkey (or monkey-like) species on a mission. All the stress from living on a city with alien technology, in a galaxy far from home and filled with Wraith, means the expedition members need to blow off steam. Write about someone 'monkeying around', having fun. Write about someone monkeying around with technology they don't understand...go wherever the muse takes you!

Big thanks to  [livejournal.com profile] squidgiepdx for his lovely entry, Movie Night, rated R: Evan finds some movies on Atlantis' Intranet, and invites the team over for movie night.

The prompt this time around is heist! The definition is "to commit armed robbery on" or "to steal". Perhaps it's the 1940's and the team is a group of robbers who rob banks and seem impossible to catch. Perhaps Atlantis need to complete a heist. Or maybe it's just as simple as the team sitting down to watch a heist movie.

Just a reminder: you still have 5 days left to add your Saturday Romance prompt stories here and at our SGA Saturday Romance Collection on AO3!

Also, if you have no other works, please contribute by adding AO3 bookmarks for your favorite non-McShep stories to the Collection!
    [identity profile] esteefee.livejournal.com
Dear SGA Saturday people! This next prompt is a special one, as we are acting as wing-peeps to the [livejournal.com profile] romancingmcshep fest. But where all their romances are McSheps, for the next three weeks at SGA Saturday, we invite you to contribute stories of the non-mcshep variety to give the other pairings on Atlantis some equal time in romance (and unhappy endings, or aromance: whatever comes to mind from the prompt.)

Please forgive the hasty banner; only a small sampling of pairings are represented, but if you don't see your pairing listed in our tags, respond to this post and we will add.

Please go forth and prompt: romance! Be sure to add your works to our SGA Saturday Romance Collection on AO3!

Hey guys! I'm so pleased to be a mod of this comm and hope I do it justice.

The prompt this time around is tradition. According to Mirriam-Webster online, tradition is, "a way of thinking, behaving, or doing something that has been used by the people in a particular group, family, society, etc., for a long time." Explore some Pegasus tradition, or tradition the Lanteans begin that is carried on. Surely Jeannie has some holiday traditions!

It's important to note that I'm moving the closing time from 4pm to 6pm Pacific/9pm Eastern, since I tend to work into the evening. I'm sorry for any inconvenience.

    Have fun!

    New Co-Mo!

Everyone, please welcome [livejournal.com profile] popkin16 as our new co-mod. Hopefully she can help prompt some new activity in our Little Comm That Could. :) (no, mischief, that was not a pun.)
    [identity profile] esteefee.livejournal.com
    Dear SGA Saturday:

It has been a tremendous pleasure prompting you lo! these past 3+ years. Many lovely works have resulted in the Little Comm That Could, as visible in our comm memories and in our AO3 tag, and [livejournal.com profile] lilyfarfalla and I are grateful for your taking part, both as creators and commenters, but with the fading participation levels in fandom of late, it seems time to hang up our spurs and open the comm to Eternal Amnesty.

You will always be free to post to any of the previous prompts in the comm. Please tag with the prompt and "eternal amnesty". If anyone wishes to prompt with a specific prompt, please feel free to PM [livejournal.com profile] esteefee. This comm will be maintained in perpetuity.

Thank you once again for 3 1/2 excellent years! <3

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] anuminis for her lovely art!

Salt Desert by [livejournal.com profile] anuminis PG: Rodney has stocked up on lip balm and moisturizer. The salty air doesn't agree with his skin.
    [identity profile] esteefee.livejournal.com
Salt is open! Salt in the wound, salt in the meal, salt your meat, salt is wit, you can salt a claim to make it seem valuable. In cryptography, a salt is random data that is used as additional input to hash a password; or you can take things with a grain of salt.

Let's see what you can do with salt!
    [identity profile] lilyfarfalla.livejournal.com
The next prompt, hand, is open!

It's hard to know where to start with this one.
    Give him a hand
    take her hand in marriage

    hand of the king
    metal/robotic hand
    Thing T. Thing.

In addition, the primary definition is pretty hilarious:
Noun - the terminal, prehensile part of the upper limb in humans and other primates, consisting of the wrist, metacarpal area, fingers, and thumb.

And others are thought provoking as well:
noun - style of handwriting; penmanship: She wrote in a beautiful hand.
at hand - within reach; nearby; close by. or near in time; soon. or ready for use: We keep a supply of MREs at hand.

    Have fun!

(And just a reminder, but the normal course of things is three weeks per prompt these days, and we close/open at 4pm on Saturdays.)
    [identity profile] lilyfarfalla.livejournal.com
    Amnesty is closed!

The Tale of the Seven Waiters by [livejournal.com profile] esteefee PG (Gen): The Stargate program is declassified and Dave invites John to dinner.
Show You Something Good by [livejournal.com profile] esteefee NC-17 (John/Rodney): Rodney wants to show John something.
Strong Enough by [livejournal.com profile] esteefee NC-17 (Teyla/John): A strong woman needs a strong man.
The Richness of the Rain by [livejournal.com profile] esteefee NC-17 (John/Rodney): A training mission goes FUBAR, and John finds comfort in an unexpected place.
Podfic: Ascension World: A Place for Children read by [livejournal.com profile] juniperphoenix (Rodney McKay/John Sheppard): "Are we sure we want to go in?" John said, nose wrinkling. "I think it's educational."
Time by [livejournal.com profile] busaikko Explicit (Keras/John Sheppard): Keras discovers that Sheppard's people also demand a sacrifice.

And \o/ to all of those who participated in the "SGA...10 Years Later Fest," which was a huge success. The Collection has 124 works and 69 bookmarks!
    [identity profile] lilyfarfalla.livejournal.com
