Title: Something to Remember You By

Summary: Rodney is being ransomed for an usual demand.

“If we give in now, who knows what they'll do next time?” John whispered harshly to the rest of his team.
“Colonel Sheppard, it might prove prudent to negotiate now, so that we might be able to come up with a proper response later, after we get Doctor McKay back?” Teyla urged.
“It's my hair.” Ronon crossed his arms and glowered at them.
They continued to bicker in a circle until Rodney's voice carried across the way. “Take your time! No hurry! Just sitting here surrounded by naked men with giant pointy sticks! Ow!”
The team turned to look at where the tribe of this planet were holding Rodney hostage. Rodney was sitting on the ground with his arms tied behind his back. Surrounding him were a group of some sort of warrior priests from the local temple wearing loin cloths and thick purple mud, pointing very large decorative sticks at McKay. One of them was lightly poking Rodney, not enough to do any real damage, but maybe to show that they meant business.
Their leader was standing to the side, awaiting the team's answer.
Apparently, Ronon greatly resembled their main god. This had lead to a great feast, but little else of value to Atlantis was to be found. When the villagers found out that the team, especially Ronon, were traveling back through the gate in the morning, they kidnapped McKay and held him for ransom; five dreads of Ronon's hair to worship in his absence.
Teyla had tried negotiating, but the best she could do was get them down to two dreads.
John hadn't really wanted to use force on a bunch of sneaky people armed with nothing more powerful than sticks. Though if the look on his face was anything to go by, with each little jab at Rodney, he was reconsidering.
Ronon, however, decided it was his turn to step in. He marched up to the head priest and glared down at him. “You say you guys worship me right?”
“Of course, my-”
“Silence! You fear and respect your god, yet you kidnap my servant...”
“Hey!”
“Shut up, McKay. You kidnap my servant and demand my hair? You are making demands on your god? I revoke all my blessings!”
“But my-”
“Silence! I may reconsider, if you let him go, now!”
The priests tossed down their giant sticks and hefted Rodney to his feet. One of them untied the rope around his arms and two more worked furiously to dust him off.
“Will you quit touching me!”
All of the priests hit the ground in a deep bow.
Ronon sharply nodded his head towards the rest of the team. John growled out, “hurry up, McKay!' to underline the point.
Rodney briskly made his way towards his team.
“I shall leave you now to think on all you have done. Repent!” Ronon turned away from the priests and swaggered away.
Once the team was together again, walked as a group with confidence out of the clearing.
